A very good evening to all. It is my pleasure to welcome  our chief guests Sri Kureepuzha Sreekumar( a well known poet), Sri Kishore (Cine comedy artist),  Hon. MD Dr. Joseph D. Fernandez, Smt Smitha (manager of Valiyavila foundation), Father Hubert A Fernandex, Sri  Jayachandran Pillai(S.I), T.Sundaran ( Health Inspector), Adv Chandrasenan S, Smt Nissy mam, (Principal, SJIA, Kumbalam), Liza James ( lower section coordinator), teaching and non teaching staff,  parents and my dear children. I extent a warm welcome to all of you to the 11th Annual Day Celebrations 2018

Tonight is one of the most important events of the school calendar because it is an occasion where we publically recognize the success of our students. We acknowledge through awards, students performance, academic achievement, students potential, a commitment to excellence and student leadership.

SJIS has completed Eleven fruitful years with various milestones. At the outset, we thank the Lord Almighty for all the blessings rendered to us during these great years. Our journey started way back in 2007 with few students. We have sailed a long journey and grown to become a successful organization named SJIS..

Vision Vision of our school is to attain the principles of curricular & co- curricular excellence, inculcate values & ideas and upload social and ecological responsibilities.”

Our school has teachers with commitment and great caliber. Career, academic, behavioral guidance and counseling centre for students are planned. We have educational field trips to enrich the children with broad mindedness.

Our school’s main motive is to improve the academic performance of the students in particular and school in general. Our school provide the understanding of concepts and skills in the school syllabus and to prepare the students to attend confidently the competitive examinations that come after class X and XII. We pay attention to the strengths and limitations of each of our students. Reward their strengths and strengthen their weaknesses.

In 2016- 17 Xth std batch, we had three students who got A1 grade in all the subjects. Our result for Xth std was 100%  all the last years. We all are proud of them and looking forward for further success in the future. Our previous Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy came to SJIA, KUMBALAM and presented awards to our 2016-17 X std  students of SJIS, Chittumala who scored full A+ in all the subjects.

2017 -18 will be another geat year. We are crossing an important milestone – our fourth batch of class X is going to take their CBSE board exam. While we are happy to see them grow into confident young adults ready to take on life. We take this opportunity to pray for the students of class X for their final exam and warm wishes  in their future endeavours.

According to C.B.S.E syllabus, we are currently conducting two term exams and four periodic test for classes(I – VIII) whereas  for IX and X, we conducted three periodic exam. Their final exam will be conducted in March. For X standard students our teachers pay special attention by conducting special classes, unit test and three model exams to improve them in academics.

Beisdes, to improve the reading habit, we started a new programme named  ‘Dear Programme’ – Drop Everything and Read. At a particular point in time, bell will ring and every one in school will stop all their work and read for 15 mins and then they go back to their regular work.

Scholastic Programme

We follow the educational system devised by CBSE. This evaluation is based on a scholastic performance, leading to the all round development of the child. The scholastic part is evaluated by the formative and summative assessment of their performance in core subjects. Remedial coaching is undertaken for the students on need basis.

The kids of kindergarten enjoy the play way fun filled activity based learning. Assessments are also conducted periodically to evaluate their learning skills.

On 19th March,2017  our school celebrated St. Joseph Day by offering prayer and holymass. Children performed some programes too.

On 31st March, 2017 our school celebrated teachers Appreciation Day by showing how the teachers play important role in a students life by their hardwork and dedication.

Staff Enrichment Programme

Teachers are also learners- staying updated is the key to success in any field, especially in the field of education. Madhubun conducted teachers training programme and workshop for imparting quality education. On 5th May our management organized a special training programe for the teachers regarding different strategies to enforce the teaching methods.

Open House

We have open house so that parents can come to school and talk personally to the teachers and Principal regarding the progress of their child in academics and other activities three times a year. Our management has a weekly meeting with all the teachers to review the activities of our school and plan the future. The syllabus and books have been raised to ensure that the students have the updated curriculum. We conducted two PTA meetings and open houses so far. We conduct weekly test paper for all classes to evaluate  the students.

 

Houses and Various Clubs

The four house groups, red, blue, green, yellow and clubs like maths, science, literary, Socially Responsible Leadership club, charity club were inaugurated by our beloved MD, Dr. Joseph D. Fernandez.

Smart Class

We have incorporated three visual rooms for demonstration of the smart classes. The school has tied up with a company for interactive teaching from play class to X. The smart class provides great support through audio-visual approach in addition to the normal chalk and talk  method.

As always this year was filled with lot of celebrations. It is not out of place to mention that the parents also have to take keen interest in these celebrations and encourage our children to develop national spirit.

Environmental Day  On 5th June  we celebrated environmental day by delivering speeches regarding the welfare and protection of nature and wildlife

Founder’s Day-    Founder’s Day was celebrated with blessings with a holy mass of three priests.

Library exhibition was conducted in August where lots of books have been displaced so that the students know the importance of reading a book and how reading a book helps to improve the communication skills, vocabulary, reading skills, memory power and  so on..

Arts Day Arts day was filled with students of four different houses competing with great excitement in a variety of events like arts, literature, music and dance. The two day fest included various art forms like group dance, group song, classical dance etc.

Sports Day

On Sports Day Mr SriRangam Shambhu came for the sports inauguration and motivated the students to participate more into co-curricular activities which is much needed for the proper physical & mental growth of the child.  Sports was held with students of four different houses competing with great excitement. It included running race, long jump, shot put, badminton, relay etc…

Onam Celebration

Onam the harvest festival was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. Students decorated the school portico with a beautiful pookalam. Payasam was distributed among the students on the occasion. We distributed Onam kit for 20 poor people.

Gandhi Jayanthi

On 2nd Oct our 9TH & 10th std students went to Block Panchayat and heartly got involved in Swach Bharat programe. Our head girl Jeni Jose attended a programe named “ A day in the block with the collectorate.” And the programe  include the problems people are facing currently and how to solve these issues for the betterment of our region.

Tour and one day trip

One day trip was arranged for the students as a part of the school tour from KG to Std V –Kanyakumari and for classes VI TO X  (Wonderla, Cochin)

Children’s Day

The 128th birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister was celebrated in a grand way with a variety of programmes organized by the children thereby showing love and affection for their chachaji. We had a special quest from the US named Gerry Swift who was part of our programe and it was conducted with lot of enthusiasum.

Christmas Day

On 22nd Dec we celebrated Christmas Day with great pump and show and spreading vast love around.

Science  Exhibition

It was conducted on 5th of Jan in memory of famous scientist Sri. C.V Raman to emphasize the importance of science and technology in daily life.

Our School provides scholarships to around 35 students who are financially not sound. Our management helps these students with free education and helps them to achieve their goals.

We have Ultra modern computer laboratory with net working  and equally well equipped Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories. Well organized and elaborate school library also.More workbooks have been introduced to help teachers to pay personal attention to the students.We had frequent coverage of our school activities in Mathrubhumi .(Nanma)

We are thankful to the management of SJIS for all support extended to this school. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to all the parents for their continuous support and co-operation that enable us to move forward with confidence. We express our sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to all our students, well wishers and patrons of our school without whose help we would have not been in a position to maintain high standard of education and discipline in our school.

We take this opportunity to commit ourselves to do our best to serve this locality through quality education.

Last, but not the least, I thank all the staff, teaching and non-teaching for their dedicated service which is a key to all our success and achievements.Let me conclude this report by entrusting our school to the divine hands of St. Joseph our patron and by invoking his support for the journey ahead.
